The Hippo town in our own backyard
Hutto sits on the Blackland Prairie in eastern Williamson County, strung along US-79 just east of Round Rock with SH-130 running up its western edge. The hippo statues scattered around town tell you everything about the place: friendly, proud, and growing fast. The “Home of the Hippos” nickname traces back to a circus hippo that escaped here in 1915, and the mascot stuck. What has not stayed the same is the size of the town. Hutto has roughly tripled over the past fifteen years, and the master-planned subdivisions that drove that boom, Star Ranch and the newer builds out toward the Samsung and Taylor tech corridor, all went up in tight windows. That matters for a roof. When a whole neighborhood is framed in the same two or three years, the builder-grade roofs over it all age out together.
We are based in Leander, in this same county, so Hutto is home turf rather than a far-off job. We wanted to do it the right way instead of trying to make a quick nickel off of homeowners, we wanted to build lasting relationships. That shows up in how we work a Hutto roof: full crew, materials staged before we start, and a tear-off down to the deck so we can fix the wood the old roof was hiding before we build back as one weather-tight system. Every roof we hand over carries a lifetime workmanship warranty and six years of weatherproofing visits we make ourselves.
If your Hutto roof is leaking, aging out, or took a beating in the last spring storm, reach out for a free roof quote. We come out, get up on the roof, and put the work in plain language before anyone commits to anything.

What we handle across Hutto
A lot of our Hutto work is full replacement on those builder-grade roofs reaching the end of the line, but a roof is one system top to bottom. Here is the work we do for Hutto homes and buildings, residential and commercial alike.
Metal Roofing
Standing-seam metal that takes a prairie hailstorm and keeps going, outlasting two or three shingle cycles on a Hutto home.Shingle Roof Repair
Missing tabs, cracked shingles and small leaks caught early, while a repair is still cheaper than a tear-off.Storm Damage Roof Repair
After a hail cell rolls across the prairie, we get up top, document every bruise and lifted shingle, and walk the adjuster through it.Gutter Replacement
New continuous gutters sized for the flash-flood rain a prairie downpour drops, before it backs up against the fascia.Roof Ventilation
Lomanco-certified attic ventilation so a new roof does not cook itself early under the hard prairie sun.Commercial Roofing
Flat and low-slope roofs for downtown Hutto storefronts, offices and the new commercial space rising along US-79, scheduled around your operations. From Star Ranch to the old downtown
We cover all of Hutto, from the master-planned blocks of Star Ranch and the subdivisions feeding the Taylor tech corridor to the small historic core where the hippo statues stand. Hutto is part of our own county, so it sits right on our regular route. US-79 and SH-130 put us there from Leander without a fuss.
Hutto belongs to Williamson County, the same county we are based in, where we serve neighboring cities across the region.
Prairie weather is hard on a roof
Out on the open Blackland Prairie there is nothing to slow a storm down. Spring cells track east off the Hill Country, hit the flat country around Hutto with full force, and drop the hail that is the number one reason homes here need a roof ahead of schedule. Hail damage rarely looks like much from the driveway. The stones knock the granules loose and bruise the mat underneath, and the roof that seemed fine after the storm starts letting water in a season or two later, once the sun and the next rains finish opening the weak spots. That is why a real inspection beats a glance from the ground every time.
The rest of the year it is the sun. Hutto summers run long and the prairie offers no shade, so a poorly vented attic can climb well past the outside air and stay there. That heat ages shingles from below and runs the cooling bill up inside. On every roof we build in Hutto we set the ventilation to our Lomanco-certified standard, so the attic breathes the way it should and the new roof does not bake itself early. Wind is the third piece. When a strong cell crosses that open ground it lifts shingles and tears flashing at the ridges and edges, and those small failures let water reach the decking fast if nobody catches them.
Whole Hutto subdivisions were framed in the same couple of years, so their roofs hit the vulnerable decade all at once. Sun, hail and aging shingles are the mix we fix every season here.
Plenox Solutions, Hutto roofingThe housing that went up during Hutto’s boom, much of it between the mid-2000s and the mid-2010s, is now old enough that those first roofs deserve a close look. A builder-grade shingle laid during a fast subdivision rollout was never meant to ride out two decades of Texas weather, and the ones that have taken several hailstorms are often past the point where one more patch makes sense. We read every roof on its actual condition and tell you straight whether it needs replacing or whether the right repair buys it real time. If it needs a new roof, we tear down to the deck, replace any rotted sheathing, and build it back as one system. See how we handle shingle repairs for lighter damage, or our storm damage process if a recent storm is what set this off. Either way, start with a free roof quote and you will get a straight answer before anyone spends a dime.

Hutto is in your home county, right?
It is. We are based in Leander, and Hutto sits in the same Williamson County we call home, a short drive east along US-79. That means Hutto is regular ground for us, not a far-off job we take on reluctantly. You get a full Plenox crew that knows the area, never a subcontractor referral.
My subdivision is only about fifteen years old. Could the roof already be done?
Quite possibly. A lot of Hutto went up in fast subdivision rollouts during the growth boom, and the builder-grade shingles over those homes were not premium materials. Fifteen years on the prairie, with a few hailstorms in the mix, is enough to push one of those roofs to the end. We get up top, read the actual condition, and tell you whether yours is ready or whether it has good years left.
Will my insurance cover prairie hail damage in Hutto?
Hail and wind are covered perils under most TX homeowner policies. We document everything in detail, meet your adjuster up on the roof, and make sure the approved scope reflects what the storm actually did to the shingles, flashing, gutters and the rest. We cannot promise what your specific policy pays, but we make sure the carrier sees the whole picture. Our storm damage page walks through the process.
What backs a roof you build in Hutto?
Every Hutto roof we build carries a lifetime workmanship warranty, so our install quality is covered for as long as you own the home. On top of that we include six years of annual weatherproofing: we come back, check the seams, penetrations and vulnerable spots, and reseal anything that has shifted before the next storm season finds it. Both are part of the job, never an add-on we tack on later.
How many days does a Hutto roof replacement take?
Most homes are done in one to a few days once materials are staged, depending on size, pitch and how much deck repair the tear-off turns up. We give you a real timeline before we start, keep you posted as it moves, and do not walk off mid-job. You can see finished roofs in our project gallery for a sense of what the completed work looks like.
Can you reroof a commercial building in Hutto?
Yes. We do flat and low-slope roofs for downtown Hutto storefronts, offices and the commercial space going up along US-79. We schedule around your business hours wherever we can so you stay open. If you have a building that needs a new roof or a repair assessment, reach out through our contact page or call and describe it.
